Digital nomad on the Costa Dorada: the 7 best places to live4 min read

It’s a trend that is growing at the moment, living as a digital nomad. Being a digital nomad actually means that you can work from anywhere in the world, as long as you have your computer or laptop with you. Because of this, many people, who are not dependent on a workplace, move to a place with more hours of sunshine. And let the Costa Dorada be just such a place. Below we have listed the 5 best places for digital nomads.

1. Tarragona

Actually, Tarragona is the best of both worlds. Within a 15-minute walk you are on the beach, but you also have all the conveniences (and more) of a city. You can have drinks in Parte Alta where you feel like you are in one of the most beautiful, picturesque villages ever. But you can also feel the history that took place here in Roman times everywhere. Living in Tarragona is bound to give you the feeling that you are always on holiday, but that is also a pitfall. So enjoy (but sometimes in moderation). One of our favourite places in Tarragona is the H10 hotel.

2. Cambrils

Especially for “foodies”, Cambrils is a perfect place to be a digital nomad. The coastal town is also known as the “culinary capital” of the Costa Daurada. The restaurants are mainly specialised in fish and seafood. The long golden beaches are full of sun worshippers who put up their parasols early in the morning. In the harbour, at the end of the boulevard, the sails of the sailing boats flap in the wind.

3. Calafell

Calafell is a town with a rich history. Calafell is situated around a medieval castle and is a typical Roman village. It was built around 2,500 years ago and was taken over and developed during the Roman occupation.

The charming town offers the typical amenities and services of a small town, with a wide selection of shops, bars and restaurants. For more options, just drive down the hill to Segur and to Calafell beach, where you will find a shopping centre, open-air markets and tourist shops.

Calafell beach, like all beaches on the Costa Dorada, has golden sand. The beach has been awarded the European Blue Flag, which is given annually to beaches that meet quality standards.

4. Miami Playa

The coastal town is bustling with life in the summer, but it also hides many curiosities. Explore and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere. See El Torreón, an iconic symbol of Miami Platja with a postcard view not to be missed.

5. Altafulla

Altafulla on the Costa Daurada can be compared to Haarlem. It is not as big as other Catalan cities such as Barcelona or Tarragona, but it does have the grandeur. Many rich Catalans have their (second) homes here and enjoy all the beauty that the city and its beach have to offer.

6. L’Hospitalet del Infant

In L’Hospitalet del Infant you can enjoy the mountains, the sea and the contrasts of colours and nature at the same time.

The friendly inhabitants will immediately make you feel welcome. The spectacular beaches allow you to enjoy the cosmopolitan and modern coastal environment as well as the traditional Spanish life. And that is exactly what you are looking for as a digital nomad.

7. Cap Salou

There are so many suitable places on the Costa Dorada to live as a digital nomad. The beaches are lovely. The people are kind. And you still get the real feeling of the Spanish life, while being provided with all conveniences. What’s more, after a hard day’s work, when you are at the beach for an evening swim or a drink, you feel like a very privileged person. Believe us.
